I am happy to undertake research in any of the following areas:

  • Social History
  • Political History
  • Local History
  • History of a Club, Society. or other Organisation
  • History of a Building
  • Family History

My usual rate is £14.00 per hour. Archives and record offices often charge for copies of original documents. For example, a will from Scotland's People, costs £5.00. I would, of course, only charge you whatever it has cost me to acquire the document. I would also inform you, at the earliest possible opportunity, if such extra expenditure would be required. Please give me as much information as you can about your proposed history research project and I will get back to you with an estimate of the time the project will take and how much it is likely to cost. If I do not believe it is feasible,I will be completely honest with you about this. I do not believe in wasting your time or money!
 
During the course of the project, I would keep you regularly updated with detailed written reports regarding the progress of the research. I would also consult with you at every stage. It is your project after all!
